The History of The Ospreys Cowboys
The
Whites Cowboys were formed in 1992. The Stetson Hats appeared
on a TV trailer for the 'Wild West Wales' Swansea versus Llanelli
game and the look was adopted by some Whites fans at the match.
Spurred
on by the team's performance that day, the hat theme continued
throughout what proved to be a memorable season with Swansea
winning the championship and beating the then world champions
Australia at St. Helen's.

Ever since that season,
the Cowboys have adopted the practice of wearing stetsons, drinking
large quantities of alcohol and playing musical instruments
on matchdays and raising money for cancer charities on non-matchdays.
The Cowboys have raised money for Marrie Currie, Ty-Olwen Hospice
and more recently The Toby Lloydd Cockbain foundation. The Cowboys
most famous stunts to date include abseiling from the Millennium
Stadium's roof, bungee jumping in Bristol and a 14,000 feet
free fall parachute jump in North London. The Cowboys have also
released 2 charity cd's and are planning on releasing another
track soon in a collaberation with Peter Singh, The Rocking
Sikh.
In these days of regional rugby we are now known as the Ospreys
Cowboys and can be found at all Osprey matches at Liberty Stadium,
most away games and also at most Welsh internationals. The Cowboys
have been featured on tv, radio and the national press on numerouse
occasions and have their own 12 seater mini bus which allows
the message of 'swill hard, drill hard and stay warm' to be
broadcast across the Wild West and beyond...
